Kayaking around Quadra Island

Kayaking in Quadra Island waters is a paddlers dream: you are surrounded by 360 degrees of ocean, islands, and mountains. The scenery alone is spectacular, then add potential visits with wildlife: seals, otters, and dolphins, with eagles and herons soaring overhead. At low tide you can float over colonies of sea cucumbers and colourful starfish. If you're hungry, pull ashore on a deserted island for a well-earned picnic. The east side of Quadra Island offers protected paddling opportunities, along the shoreline and amidst the many bays and harbours. You could spend many enjoyable hours in Drew Harbour, Heriot Bay, Hyacinthe Bay, and Open Bay alone. Going north through Surge Narrows and the Octopus Island area can offers some tidal challenges and thrills for the adventurous.
